In short

Datacentre IPs are unusable for social. Residential IPs work for web-based platforms and marketplaces. Mobile carrier IPs are required for Snapchat, and strongly preferred for TikTok and Instagram. A rented "mobile proxy" is usually a shared gateway; a carrier IP bound to your device is not.

Why a shared mobile proxy is not a carrier IP

A rented mobile proxy is usually a gateway in front of a SIM pool shared between many customers. The ASN is right, but the exit is serving dozens of unrelated accounts, so the IP already carries reputation you did not create. On Snapchat this is frequently worse than no proxy at all.

A bound carrier IP means one SIM, one modem, one identity. Nobody else's traffic ever leaves through it.

The decision tree

  1. Is the platform mobile-only (Snapchat, WhatsApp)? → Bound carrier IP, no exceptions.
  2. Is it mobile-first with heavy detection (TikTok, Instagram)? → Bound carrier IP strongly preferred, shared mobile acceptable below 20 accounts.
  3. Is it web-based (marketplaces, ad managers, affiliate dashboards)? → Static residential is fine and cheaper.
  4. Is it scraping or verification? → Rotating residential, priced per GB.
